Consistency Beats Perfection - January 2026
Welcoming in 2026 – January reflections, research, and schedule updates
I have welcomed in 2026, grateful for all the learning and courage of 2025. I hope you have personally taken more than just a moment to acknowledge your own progress. I’m still blown away by the incredible clients I’ve worked with through JMH Nutrition & Health.
My AUT Master’s research proposal flew through collegial review and is awaiting postgraduate committee sign-off. I will explore the relationship between food quality and symptom severity in Ménière’s disease. A copy of my proposal is available on www.janemarshallholistic / Client Resources page (pw JMHclient1) if you are interested.
Our family summer holidays included a challenging three-day tramp on the Hump Ridge Track. We were lucky with perfect weather, so we saw all the beautiful views. It’s always the on-track chats and meeting other trampers that I love. It was also a good test of my health and fitness (+ I had two fit young men carry stuff).
Since Christmas, I have been exploring the impact of the keto diet on my health and well-being. I have purchased an i-sens blood test kit to collect and record both blood sugar and ketones. Lots of learning about my own metabolic flexibility and how changes impact my blood tests, body composition, mental clarity and ear health.
Please note for your planning that I am undergoing ENT surgery (nose, sinus & tonsils) on the 9th Feb. I have achieved two and a half years of settled MD to proceed, so I am really excited. I will be on couch recovery for all of February, so if you need anything, please get in touch soon. I am available most days this week and next week.
Finally, if the late nights, travel, social eating & drinking, seasonal allergies, family dynamics etc of Christmas and New Year mean things have fallen a little off track, that’s okay. Returning to small, consistent habits long term is what matters most - consistency always beats perfection.
I recommend checking back on your personal goals, reconnecting with your why, and referring to this Helpful Nutrition Guidelines document for help.
