Ménière’s is complex, so the road to recovery can feel overwhelming. Rest assured, evidence shows that people recover. A new normal life is possible.
As Ménière’s evolves from multiple different causes, and often alongside other health conditions, the process for each diagnosed individual may be multi-modal & differentiated in wrap-around.
Systemic inflammation is a central process for Ménière’s disease, leading to endolymphatic hydrops, regardless of the contributing factors or individual subtypes.
Targeted clinical whole food nutrition & practitioner quality supplements in combination with personalised lifestyle habit changes are vital for Ménière’s recovery.
My first vertigo attack (at Manapouri Hut on the Kepler Track) was in 2021. Early on, I stumbled into walls, was nauseous in slow traffic, had brain fog & fatigue, unpredictable vertigo, experienced sound distortion & hyperacusis, tinnitus was loud & layered.
Amongst medication & movement, I focused on changes in functional nutrition. I researched food quality, gut health, brain health, systemic inflammation, allergy & intolerance, blood sugar balance & autoimmune nutrition protocols. I learned how to eat for self-care.
I have recovered - I no longer use a hearing aid & I am vertigo-free. I have no sensitivity, tinnitus is a soft static, I move confidently, & my work capacity has expanded.
It is complex, it can be overwhelming, it does take time (& resources), but recovery is achievable & very worth it. Whether you are an MD warrior, a support person, a health care professional, or an educator, I am keen to connect and learn about your experience.
