Ménière’s management is complex & can be overwhelming. Acute recovery & life long management must be multi-modal, dynamic & individualised in wrap around. Everyone’s MD evolves from a different combination of contributing factors.
Nutrition, gut health and systemic inflammation (as contributing to the layers of both cause and treatment) are prominent in the evidence as key to understanding the restoration of your life to normal. Recovery and management is possible.
My first vertigo attack (at Manapouri Hut on the Kepler Track) was in 2021. Early on I was stumbling into walls, nauseous in slow traffic, wore noise cancelling headphones, experienced brain fog & fatigue, triggered at work & tinnitus was layered with jet engine & sports whistle.
Amongst medication & movement, I focused on functional nutrition. I researched general gut health, systemic inflammation, allergy intolerance & autoimmune nutrition protocols. I have recovered and am managing well. My new normal is great & I appreciate life more than before.
I no longer need a hearing aid. Tinnitus is just a soft static I notice before sleep. I have no environmental sensitivity or sound distortion. I move confidently in any context and my work capacity has expanded. My overall health & energy have improved as I prioritise taking care of myself.
It is complex, it can be overwhelming, it does take time (& resources) but recovery is achievable & so very worth it. Whether you are an MD warrior, a support person, a health care professional or an educator; I am really keen to connect and learn about your experience.
